Do you ever look at your checking account balance and wonder where all your money goes?
I do. Or at least I did, until I realized that I was wasting good money on products I would never use, and paying way too much for the products I did use. Then I found out about couponing. Now, I have more money at the end of the month than I ever had before.
Before we start, just get that image of the crazy soccer mom with her binder of coupons out of your head. Times have changed. In this tough economy, saving money and cutting corners wherever you can is the only financially-savvy move you can make. Whether you’re a soccer mom, a college senior, or the CEO of a multi-million dollar corporation, you should be couponing.
The savings speak for themselves. Now, like most people, I need a cup of coffee (or three) each morning to get me started for the day. My favorite kind is Peet’s Coffee’s French Roast, but since I’m trying to maximize my savings, I’ll buy the beans in bulk and brew them at home. Target usually sells a bag of Peet’s Coffee French Roast beans for $9.59. I find out they’re running a promotion that will give me a $5 Target gift card if I buy three bags. Now, $28.77 seems like a lot of money to spend just to get a measly 5 bucks. But if I do a little bit of research, I’ll come across a coupon that saves me $2.00 per bag, and a $.25 rebate on Ibotta (a coupon app). If I get three coupons and use the app rebate 3 times, each bag comes out to $5.84. Altogether, my total will come out to $17.52 — a savings of more than $10. If you count the free $5 gift card (which I can use to buy some of my favorite creamer, incidentally), I’ve saved more than $16 on a product that I actually love and use. Sounds like a massive win to me, all thanks to taking a few moments to check out some coupons! Sometimes, if you play your cards coupons right, you can even get products for free. And don’t get me started on having stores pay you to take their products (seriously, it happens.) That’s for another time, though.
Check out some of the coupons on this page to get you started on your path to big savings and free products. Have fun spending all that extra dough you’ll have in your wallet!
